2027 Chevrolet Equinox vs 2027 Nissan Rogue: Why the Equinox Belongs on Your Shortlist

Compact SUV shoppers narrow the field fast, and the Chevrolet Equinox and Nissan Rogue land on many of the same lists. Both seat five, both offer all-wheel drive on every Canadian trim and both tow up to 1,500 lbs (680 kg).

The gap shows up in what each trim includes. The 2027 Equinox puts an 11.3-inch Google built-in touchscreen, wireless phone projection and adaptive cruise in every trim, while the gas-powered 2027 Rogue keeps most of that for its Platinum trim. Here is why the Equinox earns its spot.

Big-Screen Technology From the First Trim Up

The Equinox LT, ACTIV and RS share the same digital cockpit. Every trim gets an 11-inch driver information centre and an 11.3-inch colour touchscreen with Google built-in, plus 5G vehicle connectivity. You do not need to climb the trim ladder to get the big screens.

The Rogue S, SV Moonroof, Dark Armor and Rock Creek use an 8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch driver display. Phone projection on those four trims needs a cable. The 12.3-inch screens, Google built-in and wireless phone projection arrive only on the Rogue Platinum.

Here is what every 2027 Equinox brings to the dash:

  • 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in on LT, ACTIV and RS
  • 11-inch digital driver display
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wireless phone charging, standard on ACTIV and RS and available on LT

Driver Assistance Without a Trim Upgrade

Chevrolet Safety Assist comes standard on every Equinox. That suite includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and IntelliBeam automatic high beams.

The Equinox builds on that list with standard Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking and Rear Park Assist.

Adaptive cruise control is standard too. On the Rogue, the base S trim uses conventional cruise control, and adaptive cruise starts one trim higher.

Power, Drivetrain and Towing

Every 2027 Equinox runs a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. It drives all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Automatic Stop/Start and Automatic Vehicle Hold are standard on every trim.

The Rogue’s 1.5L turbo 3-cylinder posts higher output at 201 hp, and it uses a CVT. The Equinox answers with a conventional 8-speed automatic and an extra cylinder. When there is a trailer behind you, the two are even, with both rated to tow 1,500 lbs (680 kg).

Space and Everyday Practicality

The Equinox rides on a 2,730 mm wheelbase and measures 1,902 mm wide, so it is both longer between the wheels and wider than the Rogue. Inside, front-seat passengers get 1,039 mm of legroom and 1,016 mm of headroom. Rear passengers get 1,013 mm of legroom.

The Rogue lists more cargo room on paper. The Equinox still offers 844 L behind the rear seats and 1,798 L with them folded. ACTIV and RS add an AutoSense power liftgate as standard equipment, so a hands-full trip to the hatch is easier.

Which 2027 Equinox Trim Fits Your Shortlist?

The Equinox LT is the straightforward pick. It brings AWD, the full 11.3-inch Google built-in setup, adaptive cruise, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and remote start. Wireless charging and the power liftgate are available through the Convenience Package II.

The Equinox ACTIV is for drivers who leave the pavement. It rides on 235/65R17 all-terrain tires with 17-inch Dark Android machined-face wheels. Sueded microfibre seat trim, dual-zone automatic climate control and an 8-way power driver seat come standard.

The Equinox RS brings the sporty look. It wears 19-inch Carbon Flash metallic wheels, with 20-inch wheels optional, and adds a wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel and Evotex seat trim. ACTIV and RS both offer ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats and a dual-pane power sunroof as options.

The Rogue makes you reach for Platinum to get the big screens and wireless phone connection. The Equinox delivers them on all three trims, and that makes it the smart starting point for your search.
